Description:  Data Cabling Engineer (contract)

Reports to: Project Manager

Job Purpose:

External and internal cabling installation to provide events with ethernet, IPCCTV, Wifi, IP Network Audio, VOIP services.

Working conditions

The typical working environment would be outdoors. The role requires that the candidate will be available to work long hours, evenings and weekends. The projects go further afield so flexibility is required, as well as being able to stay away from home and remain on site during project.

Duties and Responsibilities

• On site installation, testing and termination of Cat 5e, 6 & 6a copper cabling & associated containment.
• Fault finding and rectification of issues on site, including proactive liaison with colleagues to find a solution.
• A team player who works well with others and supports lead engineers in delivering success.
• Other responsibilities as assigned by the Service Delivery Manager or Project Managers

Qualification/Experience

• Over 3 years experience working in a similar environment
• Have the ability to read architectural drawings and site lay outs
• Experience in installation of Cat5e,6, 6A and Fibre Cabling
• The ability to prepare quantities from specifications and drawings
• Ability to improvise, plan and execute alternative routes upon problematic areas
• Safe and correct use of ladders and other access equipment
• Experienced at the correct and safe use of power tools
• Hold a CSCS or ECS card
• Good communication skills
• Energetic personality
• Must be able and willing to stay away from home
